FIRST OF ALL: WHAT IS A BANG?:

A bang is a fan event where fanfic writers and fan artists create pieces together!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each writer comes up with an idea for a fic and writes a pitch/summary. Artists will then blind pick from those ideas to make art!

The mod team pairs up artists with writers for their favorite ideas, and thus the creation period starts! Writers and artists will be given time to work on their ideas over a fixed amount of time.

WHAT ABOUT CHECK-INS?
Check-ins are milestones for the team's works. Every team has to submit their progress so mods can check that the work is being done!

Then it's posting day! Writers post their works and artists share their art!

IS IT LIKE A ZINE?
Yes and no! Bangs are similar to zines in how they are fan events that gather writers and artists. However...

There is no final publication done!
Zines aim to create a final publication: physical or a digital one (or both sometimes!).

BANGS do not create a final publication. Fics are added to an Ao3 collection and art is linked and embedded in fics and retweeted by the bang's account, but there is no publication done, either digital or physical. That means no monetary compensation for the works.

Additionally...
While zines can vary in how they handle their content, bangs aim to give every fic at least one piece of art. That means art is not done independently.

REVERSE BANGS have artists pitching their art and writers choosing them.

WILL MIRITAMA BIG BANG BE A REVERSE BANG?
No, this will be a regular bang.

WHY JOIN A BANG?
Because it's fun! You get to meet and interact with others in the community who share your same interests! Creators who struggle to finish pieces will get concrete deadlines, so it's a good way to get work done!

WE WILL HANDLE EVERYTHING FROM A DISCORD SERVER

Once a creator has signed up, we will send them a link to our Discord server! There's no need to know how to handle Twitter to get in!

WHY IS THIS EVENT +18 RESTRICTED?
The event being +18 means content will not be policed. Creators are free to do whatever they want, that means both SFW and NSFW are allowed and welcomed! We will request creators to tag potentially triggering content, but no content is banned.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR SIGN-UPS?
We will only require a writer's email address, social media handles and an Ao3 account! Conditions to be accepted are basically not having engaged in harassment, and to be over 18.
We will not decline any sign-up based on ability. That's it!
As for the sign-up with an artist we require that the writer is creating new content for this bang!

WHAT'S THE MINIMUN WORD COUNT FOR THE COMPLETED FANFICTION?
Our minimum word count will be 3.5k words!

WHAT ABOUT BETAS/WRITER MODS?
We are planning to create a "Beta reader" role in the event's server so participants can have an extra eye on their work. However, the bang's content will not be rejected or accepted by these beta readers, and asking for help is fully optional.

As of now, the mod team is still debating on whether we will have specific sign-ups for beta readers. We plan to run an interest check once writer sign-ups are done to see how many of them will be requiring one. For now, we will not assign dedicated beta readers to teams. We want to keep it more open so both beta readers and writers can have multiple options.

WHAT ABOUT OTHER PAIRINGS?
Your creation must be centered on MiriTama.
We will accept any secondary ships, but they must be
the main focus.

Do NOT discuss anything about your planned fic outside of the discord writers only channels! It shall be a surprise!

For the duration of the bang, you can’t submit parts of your work (WIPS/ previews) anywhere: no screenshots, excerpts or anything of the sort in social media.
Share it in the server, instead! We will all get hyped!

THE GHOSTING ISSUE:
Ghosting will not be tolerated.
Once you miss an extension, mods will contact you.
If we can’t get a hold of you within 48 hours, we will ban you and get your partner a pinch hitter.

WHAT KIND OF ART IS ALLOWED?
Any kind of art is welcome! The idea is that all creators can have fun! As long as it goes with the fic, you can draw anything you want!

ARE WE ABLE TO MAKE FULL COLOR MINI COMICS?
Yes. As long as it goes with the writer's fic, mini-comics are allowed and welcome!

IS TRADITIONAL ART ALLOWED?
Yes! We only require said art to be scanned with
good quality of the overall drawing and 600dpi preferred.

ANY SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR MY DRAWING?
No. Doesn't matter If A4 or A5, portraits or full body,
grey scale or bright and colorful- everything is accepted!
Important is that you submit high quality art- full colored illustration but backgrounds are not mandatory. As for the sign-up with an writer we require that the artist is creating new content for this bang!

WHAT ABOUT OTHER PAIRINGS?

IF MY PARTNER'S FIC IS NSFW DOES THAT MEAN I HAVE TO DRAW A NSFW SCENE?
No! As the artist you will get to decide what scene from the fic you will be drawing. You can collaborate with your partner but just because a fic is NSFW does not mean you must contribute NSFW art! Writers will get to talk it out, but ultimately, the artist will decide what they will be creating!
